UFOs - Fly your UFO to collect the crystals in this Windows network game.
UFOs is a fun game for up to four people on a network or over the Internet. You guide your UFO to try and snatch as many crystals as you can before your opponents get them. There are also "Meanies" out there who will try their best to ram or shoot you!
Starting a game
When UFOs starts you will see a dialog box asking you for your name and whether you want to `Start a new game` or `Join a network game`. If you click on the `Start a new game` button your computer will become a game `server` which other people on your network or the Internet can connect to by clicking on `Join a network game` and typing in the IP number of your server (which will be shown in the server’s window titlebar).
Once a game has been setup you can click on any of the four `Click to play` buttons on the right of the window to take control of one of the UFOs.
Playing the game
The object of UFOs is to collect the crystals that are bouncing around the screen and bring them back to your base. Once all ten crystals have been collected you will go on to the next level. You can only hold 3 crystals at once, so you must return to your base to drop them off before collecting any more.
To make life hard for you, various meanies will materialise from time to time and try to either ram your UFO or shoot you. If you take too long over a level a green meanie UFO will materialise and home in straight at you.
You can also shoot other network player’s UFOs. Hitting them will freeze them for a few seconds and any crystals that they were holding will be released.
There are also yellow bonuses which can appear. Depending on the letter that appears on the bonus, the effect of picking one up will be to Kill all the meanies, gain Double shots, get an invincibility Shield, get Bouncing bullets, Attract the crystals towards you, Repel the meanies or go Invisible.
Quitting a game
Quit a game at any time by pressing the Esc key.
