If your child closes the browser or the chat/messenger application, the warning message disappears; otherwise the software shuts down the computer.
Not only the usage of the browser can be limited, any kind of application (e.g.: games) can be put to the list of the restricted softwares.
This way you do not restrict your child's usage of the applications needed for his/her studies (word processor, dictionary, etc.). After the installation please let the software run for a day, and it will show which applications your child used to launch and use.
